PUBLICATION OF A SEISMIC-TECTONIC
MAP
Framework
The production of a seismic-tectonic map of Tunisia is one of the objectives of the National Program for Seismic Risk Reduction. It results from bringing together several seism-related topics and other fields of earth science.
Purpose of the seismic-tectonic map
A seismic-tectonic map will serve as a basis to draw up seism source areas that are used for the assessment of seismic hazard and for seismic zoning, both of which are essential for issuing regulation concerning anti-seismic construction.
Design of the map
The seismic-tectonic map will be the fruit
of scientific cooperation between National Institute of Meteorology
(Tunisie) and the Institute of Earthquake Engineering and
Engineering Seismology at Skopje (Republic of Macedonia) .
