What is vigilance ?

Meteorological Vigilance is designed to inform people and public authorities in order to be prepared to face hazardous weather phenomena in Tunisia. It aims at drawing attention to all of the potential hazards of a meteorological situation and to highlight the self-protection precautions.

Vigilance is also designed for Civil Security services and health care authorities, who can consequently warn and mobilize intervention teams and health professionals and structures respectively.

A Vigilance map is updated at least twice a day at 7 am and 5 pm. It points out any hazard threatening one or more governorates within the following 24 hours.

Four colors correspond to four levels of vigilance. Each governorate is colored in green, yellow, orange or red, depending on the meteorological situation and the required level of vigilance. The map can be updated at any time, should any significant change occur,

In the case of a high-intensity hazardous phenomenon, the concerned area will appear in orange. In case of a very hazardous phenomenon, the concerned area will be displayed in red this time.
