Map de la Tunisie

Introduction: The seismotectonic map of Tunisia is one of the objectives of the National Program for the Reduction of Seismic Risk. It is a thematic map based on the integration of structural and seismological data (historical and instrumental seismicity) that is used for the evaluation of seismic alea and seismic zoning. The compilation of these data allows us to identify seismic zones and areas of the same intensity that are of crucial importance in locating seismicity, on the one hand, and to provide useful information for deriving the hazard and then the seismic risk, on the other hand. Historical Seismicity The Bibliographic research to reconstruct high-intensity seismic events was carried out by the National Institute of Meteorology of Tunisia and the National Library of Tunisia. It covers the period from 412 to 1975 Instrumental seismicity The instrumental seismicity catalogs collect data describing the earthquakes detected by seismometers of seismic monitoring networks. Seismometers measure, at a given geographic location, the speed of movement by the three components of space following seismic pressure. They give this information about a seismogram whose analysis by the seismologist allows to define certain characteristics of the earthquake (location, magnitude, mechanism at home...) OBJCTIVE: The development of the seismotectonic map has been the subject of scientific cooperation between L.N. Meteorology And the "Institute of Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Sismology" SKOPJE (Republic of Macedonia). In the development of the map two essential components were presented: seismicity (historical and instrumental) and tectonics. Of course, other smaller components have been studied and used in the overall map analysis, and in particular geophysical data in areas where geological outcrops are lacking.
