Observation

Observation is the foundation of any meteorological activity, including weather forecasting, climatology and applied meteorology.

To this end, the NIM has a national meteorological observation network that comprises essentially:

• Synoptic stations.
• Agrometeorologica stations.
• Climatological stations.
• Pluviometric stations.
• Maritime stations.
• Upper-air measurement stations.
• Satellite reception stations.

The exchange of data is carried out by the means of a meteorological data communication system which ensures, on one hand, the transmission of the national stations’ observation data, their internal and external dispatching and, on the other hand, observation data collection from foreign stations and their internal dispatching.
